The Neighbours star has been forced to pull out of the current series of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing after hurting his leg

Stefan Dennis has appeared to suggest he won’t be returning to Strictly Come Dancing next year.

The Neighbours actor had to withdraw from the current series of the BBC’s dance spectacle due to a calf injury and is currently awaiting medical clearance to fly back home to Australia.

Some fans have been wondering whether Stefan, who was teamed with professional dancer Dianne Buswell on the dancefloor, might make a comeback in an upcoming series. It wouldn’t be unprecedented as Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing returned to Strictly in 2020 after an injury sidelined him in 2019.

However, Stefan has seemed to hint that he won’t be part of the 2026 line-up, reports Wales Online.

Speaking at the Pride of Britain awards this week, he expressed his disappointment at having to leave the show but confirmed he would return to see this year’s Strictly champion crowned.

“It’s a bit of a s****er, but I’ll be back at the end of the year, for the final,” he told The Sun.

“I’ve done too much to come back and try again next year.”

Earlier this week, Stefan announced his departure from Strictly, shortly after missing Movie Week’s show due to a separate illness.

The 66-year-old revealed in a statement: “I was told that on Saturday I had torn my calf so significantly that I am now forced to withdraw from the show.”

“I owe both the Strictly family and Dianne a massive debt of gratitude for giving me the opportunity to fulfil my dream of being able to dance with my wife. (When my leg is better),” he added.

Stefan – who found fame playing Paul Robinson in Neighbours – subsequently revealed he is unable to return home to Australia for a further fortnight because of the risk of a deep vein thrombosis.

His wife Gail shared a heartfelt message on Instagram after he had to leave the dance contest, writing: “Crying because the journey is over… but thrilled he’s coming home (well when the blood is drained and he gets the all clear to fly!) hurry up darling.”

“I can’t wait to feel you in my arms again,” she added.
