The epic failure of multiple warplanes simultaneously in a supposedly elite fleet designed by Russia is a crisis for Putin’s military as WW3 fears skyrocket across the globe
Putin has been left humiliated after three highly prized Soviet warplanes all malfunctioned at the same time.
The fleet of nuclear aircrafts, called the Tu-160, was supposed to be Russia’s largest and most formidable. The jets were preparing for what was intended to be a massive bombing offensive against Ukraine, but all three failed in separate incidents.
In Russia the Tu-160 are called the “White Swan” and were a proud feature of the nation’s nuclear capabilities. The bombers were initially created in the Soviet Union. It carries missiles and is called the Blackjack by NATO.
One aircraft, identified as Ivan Yarygin with tail number 04, couldn’t deploy its missiles “due to the failure of the launcher mechanism,” according to the Telegram channel Spy Dossier.
A second bomber, Alexey Plokhov with tail number 16, abandoned its operation after being “struck by lightning, due to which it was forced to abort the combat mission and return to its airfield.”
Spy Dossier noted: “The glazing of the pilot’s cabin was damaged.”
The third aircraft never departed Engels airbase in Russia’s Saratov region. “The reason is unknown,” the source said. The triple breakdown as an “emergency” for Russia’s strategic air force, it added.
Since the beginning of the war, these warplanes has been firing cruise missiles from within its borders.
The news comes after 40 doomsday nuclear planes were set ablaze in a bold attack by Ukraine in June in a major blow to Putin’s military.
Despite being thousands of miles away from Ukraine, both airfields – one in the Arctic and the other in Siberia – were reportedly “under drone attack”, resulting in the destruction of dozens of Moscow’s nuclear-capable warplanes.
But many of Putin’s warplanes are of course succeeding to batter war torn Ukraine – and are met with fierce retaliation from NATO.
NATO fighter jets took to the skies in July in response to Russia’s particularly air strike on Ukraine, which saw Putin unleash a barrage of kamikaze drones and rockets. The devastating attack left eight people, including a two year old girl, with shrapnel wounds after a bomb struck an apartment building in Kyiv.
A Russian drone is suspected to have breached the airspace of NATO member Lithuania, prompting the swift response. Poland’s Ministry of Defence announced that fighter jets were deployed overnight, with air defence and radar reconnaissance systems elevated to high alert.
