Greater Lincolnshire Mayor Andrea Jenkyns – who branded herself “a bit of a rebel” – broke into song in a sequinned blue jumpsuit singing about ‘insomniacs’ at a Reform UK conference

Andrea Jenkyns, mayor of Greater Lincolnshire, sings as she takes to the stage at the Reform UK annual party conference in Birmingham, UK, on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025. For the past year, Nigel Farage has been trying to professionalize his upstart band of one-time Brexit campaigners to show it could be a credible governing party by the time the next general election is due in 2029. Reform UK’s conference launched in spectacular fashion as one of its mayors made a jaw-dropping entrance onto the stage singing and draped entirely in sequins. Following a conventional introduction before her address at the event, Greater Lincolnshire Mayor Andrea Jenkyns – who described herself as “a bit of a rebel” – stunned delegates by appearing in a glittering blue jumpsuit before breaking into song, crooning about “insomniacs.”

The ex-Tory minister – and Boris Johnson supporter – belted out her own composition as the crowd erupted in applause. Strutting across the stage in towering heels, Dame Andrea repeatedly warbled the refrain “I’m an insomniac,” stretching both arms towards the audience, reports the Mirror.

Following her musical performance, Dame Andrea acknowledged that attendees might be puzzled by her sequinned ensemble and “ridiculously high heels that I can hardly walk in now.”

“No, I’m not auditioning to be a ginger spice tribute act, but let me tell you a little story,” she declared. “Now, I co-wrote this song over 20 years ago with a now dearly departed friend, God bless him. At the time, I was in a rock band, and I was always a bit of a rebel.

“Then I became the Conservative MP and I dressed more demure, though the rebel was still bubbling away under the surface.”

As she transformed her bizarre musical number into a Labour-bashing tirade, Dame Andrea declared: “We are a nation of insomniacs, as Britain is sleepwalking into disaster, but Reform is waking up the establishment. So Reformers, it’s time to unleash our inner Brit pop. It’s time to unleash the spirit of the British and get to work on saving our country.”

During her address, Dame Andrea proceeded to rave about why she defected to Reform UK, branding it the “party of the brave” whilst heaping adoration upon Nigel Farage.

“I joined because of you Nigel because you will save Britain,” she gushed. “Now you in the audience are the true believers of Britain and the rock chick is firmly back.”

People were quick to comment on the incident, with many viewers branding it ‘cringe’. Taking to X, one wrote: “I wish politicians would stop the theatrics. We just need people to deliver.”

Another added: “Good grief,” while a third chimed in: “Cringe boomerslop.”

The ex-Tory politician was a staunch supporter of Mr Johnson and during the summer of 2022 was photographed raising her middle finger at ‘Bye Boris’ demonstrators outside Downing Street, sparking outrage.

Dame Andrea, who represented Morley and Outwood, also held ministerial office during Liz Truss’s tenure.
