Strictly Come Dancing hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman appeared on the first live show since they announced they were quitting and one contestant cheekily auditioned for a role as host

BBC Strictly Come Dancing presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman made their first live appearance since revealing their departure – with one cheeky contestant making a bold bid for the hosting role.

The presenting duo spoke to viewers for the first time following Thursday morning’s announcement video, where they confirmed this series would mark their final bow.

Tess has been at the helm of Strictly since its debut in 2004, initially partnering Sir Bruce Forsyth before teaming up with Claudia, who previously fronted the spin-off programme It Takes Two.

Saturday saw their return for Icons Week, where they addressed their impending departure before the celebrities hit the dance floor.

During the programme, after Claudia had chatted with Balvinder and Julian about their performance, she informed viewers: “Still to come, La Voix closes the show as Cher,” reports Wales Online.

As cameras prepared to cut to Tess, La Voix cheekily interjected: “Claudia while I’ve got you, do you know the address where you send your CV to the BBC just in case there’s any new jobs coming up. I’m just asking for a friend. Just asking for a friend..”

Claudia burst into laughter, grasping La Voix’s hand and declaring: “Give it a go babe, let’s do it now.”

Taking centre stage in the Clauditorium, La Voix gazed directly into the camera and delivered Claudia’s signature handover with a confident “Tess,” prompting laughter from co-stars and an enthusiastic “Perfect – I love you!” from Tess.

Earlier that evening, as the show began, Tess addressed viewers: “Just before we get started Claud and I announced this week this will be our last series of Strictly Come Dancing.”

Claudia added: “We want to thank you for your beautiful messages. We have got another eight weeks on this incredible show and a Strictly champion to crown.”

Tess concluded: “We cannot wait to spend the rest of the series with you, with our amazing couples and of course with these four – please welcome the judges.”

The presenting duo will remain at the helm of Strictly until the current series concludes and will also present the Christmas 2025 special. Speculation is already rife about who might step into their shoes.

Meanwhile, La Voix’s Cher tribute received rave reviews from viewers on X. One fan gushed: “That’s how you close the show ! ! Voice fantastic and amazing I loved it I felt like I was watching a La Voix show ! ! I wanted more !”.
