Kameron Gilchrist, a 25-year-old Christian preacher from North Carolina, faces up to six years in prison after allegedly spraying HIV-positive blood into the eyes of two hospital workers

A Christian preacher risks prison time after allegedly spraying HIV-positive blood into the eyes of two hospital staff members. The 25-year-old, from North Carolina, USA, is currently facing two felony charges.

Kameron Gilchrist has been charged with two counts of assault or affray resulting in physical injury to emergency room staff, a Class H felony in North Carolina. Each count carries a maximum sentence of 39 months in prison, meaning Gilchrist could face up to 78 months (six years and six months) behind bars if convicted on both charges and given consecutive sentences.

The despicable incident took place at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina, on March 21.

According to his arrest warrant, while Gilchrist was receiving treatment, he “unlawfully, wilfully and feloniously did assault a hospital employee … by spraying HIV blood into the eyes of victim,” People reported.

Gilchrist reportedly removed an IV from his arm and squirting HIV-positive blood at two hospital staff members while being treated for diabetes At the time, the male and female were reportedly “discharging [their] official duties,” according to the warrant.

Consequently, both employees were exposed to HIV and experienced irritation in their eyes. The reason for the six-month delay in filing charges remains unclear, People reported.

While a spokesperson for UNC Rex Health reportedly declined to discuss matters involving employees, they did note: “Unfortunately, violent situations and threats of violence against health workers have become more common across the country.”

Gilchrist is being held at the Wake County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond. He has not yet entered a plea and is scheduled to appear in court on December 8. In response to the serious allegations, Gilchrist’s social media account has been flooded with messages from people expressing their outrage.

“Why was yu spraying hiv blood in ppl eyes?” a person commented on the alleged criminal’s latest Instagram post. Someone else wrote: “That was so evil what you did. REPENT.”

A separate individual chimed in: “Dude, shame on you…” According to Gilchrist’s Instagram page, the alleged offender promotes his religious interests, often posting videos of himself preaching and singing in church.

It’s important to remember that HIV is a manageable condition with effective treatment, and people living with HIV can lead healthy, fulfilling lives.

HIV can be passed on through semen, vaginal fluids, rectal secretions, blood or breast milk, the National Aids Trust explains.
