Kelvin Fletcher hasn’t been seen on Emmerdale as Andy Sugden since 2019 but fans think that could be about to change soon

Emmerdale could be set to welcome back Andy Sugden in a huge soap twist.

Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) made his debut on the soap back in 1996. And as the village heartthrob, it didn’t take him long to become a firm favourite with viewers.

Throughout his stint Andy was at the heart of numerous high-stakes storylines. From his many failed romances to fathering Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) with Debbie Dingle(Charley Webb), his time in the Dales was not short of drama.

However, after years of turmoil, Andy decided to escape the village in 2016 after being framed for the accidental shooting of Lawrence White (John Bowe) by Chrissie (Louise Marwood).

With the help half-brother Robert (Ryan Hawley), Andy was able to go on the run. Since then, Andy hasn’t been seen, but according to fans that could be about to change soon.

As viewers will know, Robert is involved in a major storyline at the moment after his husband Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) moved to the Dales following a long-term prison sentence for bank robbery.

While locked up, Kev married Robert, and, given his newfound freedom, he hopes the pair will now live in wedded bliss. Robert has since resumed a relationship with Kev, much to Aaron Dingle’s (Danny Miller) heartbreak.

However, in Monday’s episode (October 27), things took a sinister turn when Kev showed his dark side. During the instalment, Robert turned up at Aaron’s flat and a tense showdown took place over who was best for Robert.

The row escalated though when Kev warned Aaron that he would kill him if he got involved in his romance. Now, with Kev showing his true colours, is Andy Sugden coming back to Emmerdale?

Fans certainly think so as they reckon he could return to help save half-brother Robert from Kev. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person said: “I don’t like Kev, don’t trust him one bit.” Someone else added: “Get Andy Sugden back to sort him out.”

A third chimed in and declared: “Would so love this!” Another viewer suggested that Andy could make a comeback when his granddaughter is born. They wrote: “Or maybe when Sarah‘s baby is born.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
