Tess Daly and her husband Vernon Kay’s eldest daughter Phoebe Kay joined her mum for the Halloween special on the BBC dance show
BBC Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly was accompanied in the studio audience during the most recent live show by her ldest daughter, Phoebe Kay.
Tess couldn’t hide her joy as she posed with her 21-year-old daughter on the set of the popular dance show. This will be the last series she presents before she and co-host Claudia Winkleman bid farewell to the programme.
Tess has been a co-presenter since the show’s inception in 2004, when the iconic Sir Bruce Forsyth was in charge. At that time, Tess, who is married to BBC Radio 2 presenter Vernon Kay, was expecting Phoebe. The couple also have a 16-year-old daughter, Amber.
Dressed in a stunning black mini dress adorned with a poppy, Tess radiated happiness next to Phoebe, who looked dazzling in a shimmering plum-coloured gown. With her long blonde hair, Phoebe bears a remarkable resemblance to her mother, reports Wales Online.
Posting the photo on Instagram, Tess wrote: “Such a treat having you at the show last night @phoebeekay can’t believe you’ve been coming for 21 years; your entire life.”
Phoebe, who boasts nearly 15k followers on her own Instagram account, shared the same photo with the caption: “Had the most amazing time at strictly last night seeing Mum in action, so grateful to get to see the show work it’s magic in person! Proud of you alwaysssss @tessdaly.”
Vernon has frequently mentioned how he and his daughters have been devoted viewers of the show over the years, with the girls always eager to see what their mum was wearing.
Phoebe, who marked her 21st birthday last month with an extravagant celebration, is studying film production and splits her time between the UK and Dubai.
Whilst her parents shielded her from public attention during her childhood, she’s now frequently spotted at high-profile events alongside them, from Wimbledon to major concerts. However, she has no desire to follow in their career footsteps.
Phoebe has previously revealed she’d prefer working behind the scenes rather than presenting like her parents, according to the Daily Mail.
In an interview, she explained: “I like the production and editing side. I’d love to act, but will leave presenting to my mum and dad. I’m just trying to understand what I want to do.
“I think you go to uni to figure out what you want to do in life. I’d like to do some work experience, as it’s hands-on, even if I start as a runner and work my way up.”
Phoebe attended the Strictly studio on Saturday for the Halloween special which witnessed Emmerdale star Lewis Cope securing the series’ first perfect score of 40 for his Couple’s Choice routine with Katya Jones to Creep by Radiohead.
It proved less fortunate for model and actress Ellie Goldstein who became the latest contestant eliminated from the show following the dance-off against EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal. Following her exit, Ellie shared her thoughts on her journey with dance partner Vito Coppola, expressing: “I’ve enjoyed it so much! He is a kind person and all I wanted from day one. You have been so heartwarming, thank you to you [Vito].”
