Locals in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh were left shellshocked at the incident, after the young tot was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital following the reported drowning

Tragedy has hit an Indian town after a two-month-old baby was reportedly snatched from their home and drowned. To make matters even more horrifying, the perpetrators of the horrific crime were a gang of wild monkeys.

According to local media, the baby had been sleeping when he was taken by the primates from his bed. His distraught parents became even more heartbroken when they later found the baby’s body submerged in a water drum.

The monkeys were believed to have entered the house in the Indian village of Surajpur in Uttar Pradesh and kidnapped him from his family while they were busy finishing the daily house chores. In time, the baby’s loved ones would notice his disappearance and soon became panicked about where the tot could be.

A search and rescue operation was launched across the town in order to try and find some trace of the unnamed boy. However, faint screams and cries could later be heard coming from the rooftop shortly afterwards.

Sadly, they found the baby had been dumped inside a drum filled with water, with emergency services being called to the scene almost immediately. Police from the local station attended shortly afterwards and conducted an initial investigation before sending the baby’s body away for a postmortem examination.

The baby was eventually taken to hospital, but was tragically announced that he was dead on arrival to the hospital. Following the devastating discovery, the local community has been left rocked by the shocking turn of events.

Residents in the village said that the kidnapping only further highlighted the plight that humans have with aggressive monkey behaviour in the area. In the wake of the tragic death, people are now calling on local authorities to bring in serious reform to tackle the problem of monkey aggression.

On top of this, villagers have asked authorities to help implement important and effective measures when it comes to preventing any further loss of life. However, this is sadly not the first time that a monkey has unintentionally caused the death of a baby.

Back in 2022, another family was left bereft after another two-month-old child was seemingly dragged from a terrace and then thrown into a water tank. It was later revealed that it was the monkeys that were responsible for throwing the baby into the tank.

Terrifying CCTV footage showed the moment that two-month-old Keshav Kumar was hoisted out of the tank and brought away by the apes. Following the horrendous incident, initial reports pinned the blame on a female monkey who may have lost her own child and was thus acting out following her own sad loss.

Local vets in the area suggested that in response to her child dying, the monkey could have seen that the baby was in fact her own child. However, when she would realise that the baby was in fact not hers, she would go on to dump it, eventually causing the baby’s sad death.
