Andrew Mountbatten will be in an American jail within five years after being “humiliated” by the Royal Family, a BBC guest has predicted.
Andrew could find himself behind bars in an American prison within five years after being “humiliated” by the Royals, according to a prediction made by a BBC guest. Speaking on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, broadcaster Jeremy Vine expressed his belief that recent events have paved the way for the disgraced Andrew to be extradited to the US.
Earlier, Defence Secretary John Healey confirmed that steps are being taken to strip Andrew of his last remaining military honour, his vice admiralship of the Navy. Andrew withdrew from Royal duties in 2019 due to his connections with paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Mr Vine commented on the Royal, who will now go by Andrew Mountbatten Windsor: “He’s been buried alive. I was amazed at what John Healey told you that they’re taking the last military honour away from him.
“It’s not enough for him to disappear, they want him humiliated. But I wonder whether the Americans will think, ‘okay we can now go for him’.
“And I would reckon in the next five years he’ll be in an American jail.”
When a sceptical Ms Kuenssberg asked if he really believed this was likely, Mr Vine responded: “I think they’ll start extradition proceedings on him. Because now he has no protection.”
He went on to highlight that British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell is currently incarcerated, and Andrew’s support has evaporated. Mr Vine concluded: “And that must be a signal to the FBI and others that they can now look into him properly.”
Sex trafficking victim Virginia Giuffre, who tragically took her own life earlier this year, alleged she was coerced into sexual encounters with Andrew on three occasions – allegations he vehemently refutes. Ms Giuffre’s relatives described the move to strip him of his Royal honours as recognition by Buckingham Palace that something untoward had occurred.
Defence Secretary John Healey has now confirmed that Andrew will lose his honorary vice-admiral rank.
The Duke was elevated to vice-admiral on his 55th birthday in 2015 and kept the position even after relinquishing his other military roles in 2022. Speaking on BBC’s Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg programme, Mr Healey explained: “In general, the Government’s been guided by the decisions and judgments the King has made.
“In defence, it’s exactly the same. And we’ve seen Andrew surrender the honorary positions he’s had throughout the military, and guided again by the King, we are working now to remove that last remaining title of vice-admiral that he has.”
When pressed about whether Andrew might also forfeit his military decorations, Mr Healey described them as “medals for his service”, stating: “I don’t have an update for you on that, but just as with his vice-admiral rank and title, we would be guided by the decisions the King makes.”
However, any move to boot him from the succession line remains entirely the monarch’s prerogative, the Defence Secretary emphasised yesterday.
The fallen Royal currently sits eighth in line to the throne, yet the Government is under mounting pressure to introduce legislation ejecting him from the order of succession. Speaking to Sky News, Mr Healey stated: ” We’re being guided by the judgment and decisions of the King.”
When questioned about how the Government would react if the King requested his removal, Mr Healey responded: “Well, look, that’s a matter for the King.”
However, he did confirm that actions were in progress to strip Andrew of his final military honour, his position as Vice Admiral of the Navy.
Andrew has repeatedly denied any claims of wrongdoing.
