He explained: “Released in 2017 as part of the UK’s ‘Innovations in Science’ series, the Sir Isaac Newton 50p coin celebrates the groundbreaking work of one of history’s greatest scientists.”

The coin enthusiast then shared some key facts about the 50p. Firstly, with only about 1.8 million in circulation, it’s one of the rarest coins of its kind, reports the Mirror.

The reverse design features Aaron West’s depiction of elements from Newton’s Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica, including an image of Newton’s reflecting telescope.

Discussing the defect, the Instagram user explained: “[This] results in extra lines across Queen Elizabeth II’s portrait.
