Rockers Wet Leg threaten to retire before they get to old, and call veteran bands still touring after forty years “absurd”. The Isle Of WIght act will play three huge outdoor gigs in the UK next July and insist being in a band is more than being a solo pop star…for now.

CATCH Isle Of Wight rockers Wet Leg while you can, because they plan to retire early.

The Grammy and BRIT Award winning band have just announced their biggest headline shows yet in Manchester, Leeds and London for July 2026. But they won’t be doing it when they’re Mick Jagger or Paul McCartney‘s age claims singer Rhian Teasdale: “All good things must come to an end, right?

“To be honest, when I see bands from the seventies and eighties still touring, it seems absurd to me. At that age, I want to be sitting at home watching Glastonbury on TV, with a nice cup of tea. Watching for the next generation.”

Fortunately Wet Leg do have a decent pension plan should they quit as Rhian joked: “If everything goes well, we’ll end up like ABBA. We’ll become holograms and people will be able to come see us play for two hundred years.”

Wet Leg straddle that line fine between rock and pop, but these days they are more interested in the latter

“It’s a very exciting time for pop. To be honest,” Rhian admitted. “I listen to very little guitar music. I turn on the radio and start singing at the top of my lungs to Chappell Roan, Lola Young, Sabrina Carpenter, Charli xcx.”

Those are all solo artists but that’s not something Rhian is plotting for herself, even if the band ended: “Playing in a band is the most wonderful feeling in the world. I owe a lot to (bandmate) Hester. She was incredibly patient with me. She’s the one who taught me to play guitar. She told me I was super talented… when clearly, I wasn’t at all!”

Nevertheless they can’t wait to get back on the road next year at special venues including Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl, Leeds Millennium Square and London’s Alexandra Palace Park. Home after a busy 2025 tour Rhian revealed: “When we got home after the tour ended, I was texting the others, saying, ‘Does it feel weird being home for you too?’”

They’re not home for long with an eleven date UK and irish tour kicking off Thursday at London’s Royal Albert Hall in support of second album Moisturizer..

Wet Leg’s 2026 dates are as follows: Wednesday 8th July – Castlefield Bowl, Manchester, Thursday 9th July – Millenium Square, Leeds and Friday 10th July – Alexandra Palace Park, London. They also play Isle Of WIght Festival next summer.

Tickets are on sale now.
