A ‘bubbly and warm’ mum-of-seven has tragically died at the age of 43 after a blood clot travelled to her brain, causing her to collapse at her while taking her kids to be

A “bubbly” mum-of-seven died aged just 43 after she collapsed suddenly as she put her kids to bed. Emma McGinty was rushed to hospital on November 3 after telling her family something was “really wrong.”

Doctors found that a blood clot had travelled to her brain, causing a stroke. She tragically died two days later with her two eldest daughters by her side.

She leaves behind her heartbroken children Nicole, 23, Zoe, 21, Naomi, 20, Andrew, 15, Leon, 4, and twins Kai and Zaria, 3, as well as two grandchildren, Kade and Mason. Nicole told Edinburgh Live: “I don’t think some of us have fully processed it. It was so sudden.

“It wasn’t supposed to happen, and it’s affected every one massively. Mum never had any savings, she didn’t have life insurance or anything because we just didn’t expect this. We’ve been so stuck on what to do.”

Emma, of Blackburn, West Lothian, cleaning the house and just about to take the younger children to bed when things took a terrifying turn. She had to call out to her four-year-old son to get the phone after collapsing on the stairs and losing her vision.

She was blue lighted to St John’s Hospital in Livingston, before being moved to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Doctors discovered a clot on her carotid artery that had travelled to her brain, which had caused a stroke.

Nicole said that as her mother was so young and had swelling on the brain, doctors said operating would be difficult and she was left unable to speak or move, Edinburgh Live reports.

She added: “We went up and saw the neurosurgeon. It was me and the older kids, mum’s boyfriend and the grandparents. He just said how sorry he was, but she couldn’t speak or move. She was bedbound, and they basically said these things could be permanent even if she had the surgery.

“For three days she fought bravely, surrounded by love… She was so bubbly, so warm, and she loved everybody around her. She never had a bad bone in her body.

“She brought warmth and laughter wherever she went, and her presence could brighten even the darkest days. She had a way of making people feel seen, loved and understood, and she will be missed by everyone lucky enough to have known her.”

Nicole and her family have set up a fundraising page to give Emma the “beautiful send-off she deserves”. The GoFundMe page states: “This is something we never thought we’d be doing so soon, and any help, no matter how small, means the world to us.”
