Motorists are facing “severe delays” on the M6 this evening after a collision brought traffic to a standstill. All vehicles have been halted on the M6 Thelwall Viaduct northbound between junction 20 (Lymm Interchange) and junction 21 Manchester Road (Woolston).
Lanes three and four remain shut with queues stretching back at least 60 miles on approach, National Highways confirmed.
There is also six miles of tailbacks following the smash.
The incident was initially reported at approximately 5.50pm this evening, November 12, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Traffic monitoring service Inrix states: “All traffic being temporarily held and severe delays due to accident on M6 Thelwall Viaduct Northbound between J20 M56 J9 (Lymm Interchange) and J21 A57 Manchester Road (Woolston).”
