Adam Peaty’s brother James has been seen for the first time since his arrest.
James was arrested over claims he sent threatening messages to the Olympic swimmer during his stag do in Budapest. Adam, 30, was met by police at Manchester Airport following the stag do earlier this week.
The gold medalist is set to marry Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Holly next month. However, it’s understood Peaty is embroiled in a bitter row with his family members over the wedding.
James was spotted smoking a cigarette in Newcastle. Wearing a black coat and a grey cap, he was seen smiling and climbing into his blue Honda and driving away.
Adam is said to have became alarmed during his stag do in Budapest over the weekend. He reportedly grew concerned about text messages he’d received from James and that Holly called the police.
His elder brother, James, 34, was arrested at his home in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, on Monday (November 10) and has since been released on bail.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “We arrested a 34-year-old man, from the Uttoxeter area, on November 11, 2025, on suspicion of harassment. The man was released on conditional bail while our enquiries continue.”
Adam’s dad Mark has spoken out about the family feud. He told The Sun: “They’re brothers, they’ve always been close, but like any normal family, brothers fight, argue, fall out, makeup and start all over again.
“But it’s got out of hand, there’s been very little empathy towards Jamie’s genuine mental health difficulties.”
It’s claimed Adam believes his mum, Caroline, has been fuelling Jamie’s alleged behaviour. The source told The Sun that it was “ridiculous” for Adam to be met by police as Jamie had no plans of causing harm to his brother.
The brothers fell out in 2021 after the release of the former Strictly star’s memoir where he discussed his sibling’s “demons”, including past drug use. However, they were able to put this behind them, with Jamie even being asked to be a groomsman at Adam’s wedding.
Sadly, it’s believed their relationship soured again in June this year when James was working on a building project for Adam. The insider alleges that their bond hit rock bottom following Adam’s engagement.
James was reportedly “upset” over the remarks Adam made in his autobiography, which painted him as a “bum”. In a surprising turn of events, Adam’s own family have reportedly been left off of the guest list for the wedding, with only his sister expected to attend.
