The BBC has apologised over accusations that they edited his speech shortly before the January 6th attempted coup at the US Capitol in a way that was misleading
Donald Trump has declared he will take legal action against the BBC for a sum ranging from one to five billion dollars.
This follows the BBC’s apology regarding claims they edited his speech prior to the January 6th attempted insurrection at the US Capitol in a misleading manner.
However, the broadcaster has suggested it will not offer him compensation over the programme, which was not broadcast in America.
“We’ll sue them for anywhere between a billion and five billion dollars, probably sometime next week,” Trump informed a journalist aboard Air Force One whilst travelling to Florida.
“I think I have to do it, they even admit that they cheated. Not that they wouldn’t not have done that. They changed the words coming out of my mouth. That’s worse than what CBS did with Kamala.”
However critics say this claim is false. None of the speech segments the BBC aired were manufactured.
All were complete statements made by the President during his January 6th 2021 address.
Numerous courts, alongside the US House of Representatives, concluded that Trump’s remarks contributed to provoking violence on what became a violent uprising at the US Capitol shortly following his speech.
CBS resolved a widely criticised and baseless legal challenge without issuing any statement of remorse or acknowledgement, after Trump accused them of “maliciously” cutting an interview with his rival to her advantage on the 60 Minutes show.
“They changed her answer but at least they didn’t show it coming out of her mouth,” Trump remarked today. He continued: “The people of the UK are very angry about what happened, as you can imagine, because it shows the BBC is fake news.”
When questioned whether he’d brought up the matter with Keir Starmer, he responded: “I haven’t but I’ll call him. He actually put a call in to me, because he’s very embarrassed.”
