A Coronation Street star has been flooded with messages of support after a sad family announcement was made
A Coronation Street star and Good Morning Britain presenter wife have received an outpouring of support from followers after sharing devastating family news on social media.
Correspondent Katy Rickitt became part of the ITV breakfast show back in 2012, reporting on countless stories as a news journalist over the years.
Beyond her television work, Katy is wed to actor Adam Rickitt, famous for his portrayal of Nick Tilsley in ITV’s enduring drama Coronation Street between 1997 and 2004.
The couple’s romance began when Katy conducted an interview with Adam in 2011 for GMB, leading to their magical winter wedding ceremony in December 2014, just three years later.
Alongside their thriving individual careers, Katy and Adam are also proprietors of Dexter and Jones, a specialist bottle shop situated in Knutsford, Cheshire, reports Wales Online.
This week, however, Katy turned to Instagram to deliver heartbreaking updates regarding their cherished canine companion, Talluah. Sharing a tender photograph of herself embracing the precious pooch, Katy penned: “First of all I almost forgot how wonderful you all are so thank you so much.”
She continued: “I put this up on my story last night because I was having a really emotional moment with Tallulah and have been inundated with lovely messages, thank you guys.
“So just wanted to explain what’s going on, as I’ll probably have a few of these! And also it may help someone. Over the last few months Tallulah has started having fits, the first few were awful.
“If we could spot it in time we could hold her through it and make it better but if not they were violent and heartbreaking. So we took her to the vets and had to face the terrifying thought that she may have a brain tumour.”
Katy continued: “But before we were forced to accept, that we decided to do an ultrasound and some bloods in the vain hope it might not be. Turns out Tallulah had Toxoplasma…. A parasite dogs get from eating cat poo which is why I wanted you all to know.
“Don’t let them eat the stuff as older dogs can really suffer for it. The parasite also exists in raw meat. She’s now almost through a mega course of antibiotics and is permanently on anti-seizure medication… which we are balancing because a higher dose seems to make her unable to stand.”
She added: “Her seizures stopped, but just this week have restarted but much less intense… she foams at the mouth and looks disoriented but doesn’t fit. Because we don’t want to put her through an mri, we just don’t know if the toxo has damaged her brain… or indeed if she does have a tumour AS WELL.
“So the late night pics are because she is my soul dog, and I can’t stop staring at her. To me she is just the most perfect soul and I just want to inhale every moment with her… just in case. So it’s not a short-term thing (oh god I hope not) but I will keep you posted … in the meantime cuddle your babies… just in case. Because being a dog mama is just like being any mama… except we know we’re going to lose them first.”
Supporters of Katy and Adam rushed to offer comfort in the comments section with heartfelt messages. One follower shared: “Sending love to you all.” Another added: “Sending hugs to you both. Their unconditional love is everything.”
A third supporter offered: “Awww bless you all sending u all huge hugs and kisses tallulah knows she is in safe hands with you and Adam and knows you are there to love and support her.”
Good Morning Britain airs Monday to Friday at 6am on ITV1.
