Monk mule
Serves 1
1 slice fresh turmeric
40ml aged dark rum – we use an Indian one, Old Monk 7-year-old
10ml fresh lime juice
100ml ginger beer
2 drops cardamom bitters
1 sprig fresh mint, to garnish
Put the turmeric in a boston shaker, give it a quick muddle to break it down a bit, then measure in the rum, lime juice and ginger beer, and drop in a good handful of ice. Add the bitters, give everything a good stir, then fine-strain into a tumbler filled with fresh ice. Garnish with the mint and serve.
