EastEnders viewers were left fearing for Cindy Beale after she was pushed down a flight of stairs by Jasmine Fisher – but some fans think they’ve worked out her saving grace.

EastEnders fans were left on tenterhooks after Cindy Beale took a tumble down the stairs, courtesy of Jasmine Fisher. In Monday’s episode (November 24), fresh face Jasmine (played by Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) kept her fixation on Cindy (Michelle Collins) alive, raising eyebrows around Albert Square.

Cindy began investigating Jasmine’s past when she spotted a discrepancy with her National Insurance number. Despite being on Cindy’s payroll, Jasmine brushed off the issue, fuelling Cindy’s suspicions.

After a hush-hush meet-up with Jasmine’s mum, Anita, Cindy, and her daughter-in-law, Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa), grew increasingly worried about the enigmatic and seemingly “dangerous” teen.

After serving her sentence, Cindy spent a quarter of a century under police protection, faking her own death and starting afresh as Rose Knight, before making her comeback to Walford in June 2023, reports OK!.

Fast forward to now, Cindy shared her worries about Jasmine with her former love rival, Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe).

In an unexpected moment at The Vic, Elaine and Cindy found common ground over the Jasmine conundrum, only for their chat to be cut short by Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley).

He dropped a bombshell, revealing that after he accidentally hit Jasmine with his car, her cryptic words were: “She needs to pay for what she did.”

The dramatic staircase tumble sparked a frenzy of fan speculation about Jasmine’s real identity.

On the flip side, Cindy’s newfound bond with Elaine has breathed fresh life into her character, with some even drawing parallels between this dynamic duo and the iconic pairing of Pat Butcher and Peggy Mitchell.

Over on Reddit, one fan mused: “I think Cindy’s problem is a lack of friends. Now she has Elaine (albeit frenemy at the moment), I think she could grow.”

A second enthusiast noted: “Potential Pat / Peggy type dynamic. I’m here for the iconic ‘drunken ice cream van’ equivalent scene”. A third agreed: “Elaine is her only saving grace tbh.”

Meanwhile, another fan chimed in with: “Yup. I’m a Cindy fan too. I love how her relationship with Elaine is developing. Hoping for the same with Lauren.”

On a similar note, another fan observed: “I agree, while she does play the victim a lot, I love the friendship with Elaine. She started to grow on me as well.”
