EastEnders fans are set to say goodbye to two popular characters next week and it’s not going to be easy.

EastEnders’ darling Freddie Slater is preparing to bid farewell to Walford next week, and he won’t be leaving alone.

BBC soap enthusiasts will recall that Freddie (Bobby Brazier) made his debut in 2022 as Little Mo Mitchell’s (Kacey Ainsworth) son, quickly becoming a beloved member of the Slater clan.

Over the last three years in Walford, Freddie has been at the heart of numerous storylines, including the sinister history of his biological father, Graham Foster (Alex McSweeney), and his own battles with an ADHD diagnosis.

Freddie notably came to the rescue of his second cousin, Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), from her relentless stalker, Theo Hawthorne (William Ellis), and found himself entangled in a love triangle with his best mate, Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell), and Anna Knight (Molly Rainford).

With a nudge from Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), Freddie and Anna have finally decided to give their romance another go, reports OK!.

Anna arrived in Walford in June 2023 as Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) estranged daughter. She has since grappled with the truth about her mum’s stint in witness protection and became a victim of drink spiking. However, a fresh start beckons.

On Monday (December 1), the Slaters gear up to bid adieu to Freddie as he plans to depart Albert Square for good, with Anna accompanying him.

However, the festivities are marred as Lily (Lillia Turner) frets that Jean (Gillian Wright) is overexerting herself, while Kat (Jessie Wallace) attempts to soothe an increasingly distressed Zoe.

Elaine Peacock, played by Harriet Thorpe, delivers a speech about Freddie and Anna, but the festive cheer is disrupted when a concerning message appears in The Vic window as the Square’s Christmas lights are switched on.

Zoe, convinced she’s being tormented by an unknown individual, lashes out at Kat, Alfie (portrayed by Shane Richie), and her younger brother Tommy (played by Sonny Kendall). She then descends downstairs to spark another clash with Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) in the bar.

Kat finds herself having to intervene and reluctantly asks her daughter to leave. Later, Zoe finds solace with her ex-boyfriend Anthony Trueman (Nicolas Bailey), who offers her a place to stay.

Meanwhile, across the Square, Anna is determined to mend fences between Kojo (Dayo Koleosho), Gina (Francesca Henry), and Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) before her departure. Will she manage to bring them together?

Freddie and Anna bid a heartfelt goodbye to Walford on Tuesday, 2 December.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and iPlayer
