The church volunteer took nude pictures of the girl and threatened to share them with her friends and classmates when she begged him to stop the abuse, a court was told
A paedophile church volunteer sexually abused a schoolgirl for four years – and attempted to brainwash her that their relationship was ordained by God. The abuse started when the girl was just 12 years old, and when she begged him to stop, he threatened to share nude pictures of her to friends and classmates.
The 42-year-old man was unemployed and volunteered at a church in Moscow, according to a Russian court report via MKRU. The court heard that in his role he met lots of parishioners, bonding with them over games of table tennis.
In 2019 he befriended a woman and her 12-year-old daughter, concealing his history of convictions for theft and intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, and also keeping quiet about his alcohol addiction and mental health issues.
That was the start of a horrific four-year-ordeal for the girl, who the court heard he raped on several occasions. The report says the girl didn’t understand what he was doing to her, until an adult friend showed her an intimate video.
She then tried to convince him to stop the abuse, but he insisted that God approved of their relationship. The man had also taken several nude photos of the girl, and threatened to distribute them among her friends and classmates.
By 2023 the man had begun drinking heavily and left for his homeland in the Volgograd region, ostensibly to undergo treatment.
However, he returned to Moscow and the ordeal continued for his victim, who he began stalking on her way to school. Eventually, a family friend anonymously messaged the girl’s mum. The girl was initially reluctant to tell her mother, but eventually bravely opened up on what she had been subjected to, and together they reported her abuser to the police.
The man was sentenced to 15 years in prison, as reported to MKRU by the press service of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Moscow.
The news comes after the husband of a £3million Omaze winner was jailed for child sex offences that spanned across a 13 years. Anthony Doyle, 67, was sentenced to six years and three months after pleading guilty to abusing victims between the ages of seven and 12. Police also uncovered hundreds of indecent pictures and videos.
Judge Peter Carr told him: “Your victims will have to live with the effects of what you have done to them for far longer than this court will be able to sentence you to.”
