EXCLUSIVE: TV nutritionist Gillian McKeith has revealed her lifelong health battle that fans have no idea about as she described her daily pain after years without diagnosis

I’m A Celeb star and TV nutritionist Gillian McKeith has opened up about a lifelong health challenge that fans have no idea about. In a candid reflection, she revealed that she has been living with a agonising condition since birth.

The TV star suffers from scoliosis, a curvature of the spine, since infancy, though the condition went unnoticed for many years. Gillian spoke exclusively to Daily Star in collaboration with Casino.org: “I have scoliosis, a curvature of the spine that I’ve had since I was a baby. I must’ve been born with it, though it wasn’t diagnosed until much later in life. No one really noticed it for years.”

Gillian explained that although the condition has been a constant, its impact has fluctuated throughout her life. At times, the discomfort has been overwhelming. “It can be painful at times, and honestly, I’m probably in some level of pain every day, but I’ve become so used to it that I hardly notice anymore,” she admitted. “The more I move, the less it bothers me.”

Movement, she says, has become both a coping mechanism and a form of empowerment. “Right now, for instance, I don’t feel any pain at all,” she said. “I do Pilates, lift weights, stretch a lot, and I love racket sports… anything that helps strengthen the bones.”

Gillian has also explored a range of therapeutic approaches to manage the condition, including more unconventional modalities. “I’ve also tried something called Rolfing, which is a kind of deep tissue therapy that helps break up scar tissue in the muscles around the spine,” she explained. “It really helped, but my biggest goal was to learn how to manage my scoliosis myself, without constantly relying on someone else to treat me.”

That turning point came after a particularly difficult period. “There was a time when I was in constant pain, probably because I was sitting too much and not exercising enough,” she said.

Since then, she has committed to a holistic lifestyle that combines physical activity with nutrition-focused self-care. “I’ve found a way to manage it through movement, good nutrition, proper hydration, and herbs that support the body, especially the kidneys,” she said. “It’s a very holistic approach, and it really works for me.”
