Laura Woods’ fiancé Adam Collard has given a health update on the presenter after she appeared to collapse live on air in the build up to an England Lionesses game
Laura Woods is “all ok” after she appeared to collapse live on air, her fiancé has said. The presenter, 38, was hosting ITV’s coverage of the Lionesses when she suddenly fell forward and was caught by Ian Wright and Anita Asante.
The cameras quickly cut away but audio briefly continued, capturing Wright checking on Woods before the programme switched to an extended ad break, sparking fear among fans as she hosted coverage of England’s clash with Ghana on Tuesday.
Her partner, with whom she has a baby boy, took to social media to allay their fears. He Tweeted: “Laura is all ok and with the right people. Thank you for all of your kind messages.”
Laura was hosting the game, broadcast on ITV 4, alongside ex-England internationals Wright and Asante when she became unwell. The stunned pair attempted to hold Woods up and former Arsenal striker Wright could be heard asking her: “Are you OK?”
A wide-angle view of the stadium was shown as audio of the scene continued, before the channel cut to an ad break that lasted an unusually-long five minutes.
When the coverage returned, she had been replaced by Katie Shanahan, who announced that Woods had been “taken ill but she’s in very good hands”.
Shanahan told viewers: “As you have probably noticed we don’t have the wonderful Laura Woods because she’s just been taken ill but she’s in very good hands, so I’m stepping in at late notice.”
Stunned viewers wished her well on social media after the incident. One wrote: “Upsetting to see Laura Woods faint. Glad Ian Wright caught her. Speedy recovery.” Another said: “Hope Laura Woods is alright. Get well soon.”
A third fan added: “Hope Laura Woods is okay. Quite a shock to see her collapse like that.”
Popular presenter Woods is regularly seen on ITV and TNT Sports, where she fronts their coverage of the men’s Champions League. She gave birth to a baby boy, Leo Ernie Collard, in January 2025 with her partner.
ITV is yet to update fans on Woods’ condition and the game kicked off as scheduled, with England taking an early lead through Lucia Kendall.
Sarina Wiegman made seven changes to the England side which beat China 8-0 at Wembley on Saturday. Among the Ghana starting 11 is Nottingham Forest midfielder Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, who played for England at youth level.
