Police were called to the property in Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca after a neighbour raised the alarm – the man and woman had both sustained injuries to their bodies

Police are probing the deaths of an Irish couple discovered “semi-naked” at a property on Spain’s Costa Blanca. Officers made the shocking find just after 10am yesterday (December 3) following reports from a worried neighbour.

The man had sustained a head wound whilst the woman, reportedly still breathing when first responders arrived before passing away moments later, had injuries to her torso and limbs. Regional media suggest preliminary forensic analysis indicates the male victim died approximately a week earlier and describe the pair as being found “semi-naked”.

The residence is situated on Avenida Escorpiones – Scorpions Avenue in English – within Torrevieja municipality, south of Alicante. Local Civil Guard officers have opened an inquiry which continued today, with findings being passed to a court overseeing the investigation.

Authorities have yet to issue any formal statement but are anticipated to do so later today. A well-informed source revealed last night that police suspect the man may have died from natural causes, whilst the woman, described locally as having “limitations” which remain unclear, was unable to seek help independently.

However, he stressed that alternative scenarios haven’t been completely dismissed. No weapons that would clearly suggest a violent incident occurred within the home are believed to have been recovered.

Neither victim has been identified and their names aren’t expected to be made public. It was not immed It wasn’t immediately apparent this morning what their ages were or whether they were locals or holidaymakers.

Back in February, two British pensioners were discovered deceased at a Costa Blanca property.

The remains of the man and woman were found on February 13 at the residential address close to the small town of San Fulgencio, situated 45 minutes’ drive south of Alicante and roughly half an hour by car from where today’s tragic discovery was made.

Workers from the local council’s social services department are believed to have sounded the alert after the couple didn’t respond to their calls and they glimpsed part of a body on the floor inside the home.

Coverage at the time revealed the man and woman battled long-term health conditions and had been classified by social services as “vulnerable.”
