EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United could make at least one signing in the final hours of the transfer window, and the Red Devils have been told to deliver Ruben Amorim a goalkeeper on deadline day

Manchester United need to sign a new goalkeeper on deadline day, according to two-time Premier League winner Paul Parker.

The Red Devils have endured a frustrating start to the season, with goalkeeping errors from Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir plaguing all four of their games so far this season.

United have had two months to sign a new goalkeeper to replace their hapless duo between the sticks, but it appears that after weeks of insisting Onana and Bayindir are the right men for the job, the feeling has changed just hours before the deadline.

Speculation has intensified over moves for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez and Royal Antwerp stopper Senne Lammens, with a £40million and £17m fee discussed respectively.

Speaking to the Daily Star Sport on behalf of Casino.org, the trusted guide to UK casinos, Parker criticised the United board for so far not delivering Amorim a goalkeeper.

He said: “They weren’t willing to wait, they forced him into it, but they never delivered him the right tools at the start of his job, and they’ve given him a bit, but they still haven’t given him what he really needs, a central midfield player of a standing who can do stuff.

“Everyone knows what Manchester United need, he (Amorim) needs a goalkeeper. They haven’t given him a goalkeeper.

“He’s still got a poor, poor, poor group of goalkeepers, and they haven’t given it to him. They need to give him something.”

It appears that at least one goalkeeper will be signing on deadline day, although it remains unclear what impact it will have on the two underperforming options currently at Old Trafford.

Speculation earlier in the window linked the Reds to PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma after the Italian penned a letter to fans expressing he would leave the Parisians this summer. A move he’s yet to make happen.

However, those rumours went cold, and attention turned to a cheaper alternative in Lammens, who reportedly has a £17million price tag.

Meanwhile, links to Martinez virtually started the day after last season ended. The 32-year-old is said to cost United £40m, and has reportedly agreed personal terms over a move to Old Trafford.

Martinez was absent from Aston Villa’s squad that lost 3-0 at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday, seeing manager Unai Emery bizarrely reply with the name of his backup keeper “Marco Bizot” when he was asked about the Argentine’s future.
