Hugh Jackman has shared a first look at his latest movie, Song Sung Blue, and fans have been left surprised by his new look

A fresh musical drama featuring Hugh Jackman is set to hit cinemas in early 2026, with the actor appearing almost unrecognisable in the newly released trailer.

Song Sung Blue is an forthcoming American biographical drama that pairs Hugh alongside Kate Hudson. The two Hollywood A-listers play married couple Mike and Claire Sardina.

In the preview footage, Hugh sports lengthy locks and a smooth-shaven appearance, transforming him completely from his typical image. The Wolverine icon also displays prominent sideburns throughout.

Song Sung Blue, adapted from Greg Kohs’ 2008 documentary of the same title, follows Mike and Claire as they create a Neil Diamond tribute act called Lighting and Thunder, leading them to discover “personal fulfilment” whilst nurturing their romantic bond.

The ensemble cast features Michael Imperioli, Fisher Stevens, Jim Belushi, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir and Hudson Hilbert Hensley, reports the Mirror.

The official preview for Song Sung Blue dropped on 12th September, prior to the film’s planned debut at the AFI Film Festival in October. The biopic will launch in America on 25th December, before arriving in British cinemas during January 2026.

Supporters have already begun expressing their enthusiasm for Song Sung Blue’s arrival, with one viewer responding to the trailer: “Cannot wait for this movie!” whilst another declared: “Looks promising.”

On Hugh’s Instagram, he posted a sneak peek of the film alongside the message: “This is a love story. This is a film about second chances, family, hardship, great love and chasing your dreams. This film is a Christmas gift (with popcorn). This is @songsungbluefilm @katehudson @mybrewtube #christmasday.”

Followers were quick to react to his dramatic new appearance, with one exclaiming: “THE LONG HAIR GIVING VAN HELSING VIBES,” whilst another wrote: “Oh! New style! I like it!”

A third admirer gushed: “Hugh Jackman new look just wow,” as someone else chimed in: “Hugh in long hair? OMG yes.”

Production began in New Jersey last year before concluding in December, with Amy Vincent serving as cinematographer and Craig Brewer taking the director’s chair.

The movie draws inspiration from the true tale of a married duo who gained local recognition in their community after establishing a tribute act honouring 70s legend Neil.

Mike was renowned for his impersonation of the chart-topper whilst Claire took on the persona of American country sensation Patsy Cline. Though the couple never achieved stardom beyond their local area, they did once open for Pearl Jam.

Song Sung Blue will be released in cinemas in January 2026
