Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has opened up about her love life after being rejected from dating app Raya.

Strictly Come Dancing’s head judge, Shirley Ballas, has declared she’s not “looking for love” during a recent interview on Good Morning Britain.

The 65-year-old dance expert previously disclosed her unsuccessful attempts to join celebrity dating app Raya.

Following her surprising split from fiancé Danny Taylor, 53, Shirley shared with The Daily Mail that the app had “rudely” turned her down, stating: “I tried Raya, but they wouldn’t accept me, how rude.”

She has now opened up about her experience, revealing to hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley that she was rejected three times.

“I have got no idea, my PA got accepted but for some reason, and I’ve sent everything in, been recommended my friends, I just thought it would be nice to have a little date,” she explained, reports Wales Online.

Shirley continued: “I thought it might be a bit of fun, but no… reject.”

When asked if it was “pure ageism” behind why she may have been declined, Shirley replied: “I have got no idea, we’ve sent everything in, I’ve been recommended by friends, but it’s hard to get anybody on the telephone, but it’s ok.”

She then said she’s had “a lot of experience” in spotting guys who would only want to date her for her fame, before insisting she’s not “looking for love”.

Shirley continued: “Just a nice evening out, a nice date, a nice walk or coffee or something.”

“They should think again,” Susanna urged.

Shirley recently spoke about the end of her relationship with Danny, who she met while doing a pantomime together in 2018, after being single for more than four years.

The pair got engaged in 2021, but broke up just months ago, with Shirley telling The Mirror: “There was no question about how much I loved that man.

“And he came into my life at a point when I really, really needed it and he was such a caring person.

“But what’s the nicest way to say this? Along the line, there were red flags that I chose to ignore, but it just got to a point where the relationship was becoming too difficult for me in many ways.”

She went on to call Danny a “drifter by nature” and revealed that they would go days without talking if they ever had an argument.

She added that her “toyboy days are behind me”, saying: “I reckon anything from 55 to 70 if they’re fit.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
