EastEnders fans are convinced a former Walford hunk is set to make a return
EastEnders viewers are buzzing with speculation that a familiar face could be making a dramatic return in an unexpected Stacey Slater plot twist.
Stacey, portrayed by Lacey Turner, has been a fixture on the BBC One soap since 2004 and has certainly seen her fair share of tumultuous storylines.
From grappling with bipolar disorder and navigating numerous affairs to being embroiled in murder, Stacey’s tenure in Walford has been anything but dull.
The past year has been particularly harrowing for her, with February seeing her left heartbroken by the tragic death of her ex, Martin Fowler (James Bye), following the catastrophic Queen Vic explosion.
Viewers will remember that Martin had rekindled his relationship with Stacey in his final moments, even contemplating remarriage. However, his untimely demise sent shockwaves through the square, leaving everyone mourning the loss of the much-loved fruit and veg trader.
Overwhelmed by grief, Stacey briefly disappeared from Walford last month, only returning for Martin’s funeral. Adding to the drama, Lacey Turner announced earlier this year that she would be taking an extended break from the show, reports OK!.
Meanwhile, back in Albert Square, the soap has begun setting the stage for Stacey’s exit. In recent episodes, Stacey’s brother Sean (Robert Kazinsky) has been reaching out, trying to convince her to relocate to Brazil, South America, to work at his restaurant.
During Wednesday’s episode (September 24), Stacey shared Sean’s proposition with her daughter Lily (Lillia Turner), who was all for the idea. Initially hesitant, Stacey, after a spat with Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), declared they were off to Brazil.
And now, with Stacey’s departure on the horizon, viewers are speculating that Sean might make a return. On X, one fan wrote: “With all the mentions of Sean for Stacey’s exit, do you guys think we might get a brief return stint from Sean and maybe when Lacey comes back at the end of 26 hopefully Sean can come back for a bit.”
Another viewer commented: “Hopefully we get a Sean appearance for Stacey’s exit.” A third fan pleaded: “PLEASEEE ROBBBB.”
The Walford charmer and troublemaker Sean first arrived in Albert Square back in 2006 and stayed on the programme until 2009. Nevertheless, he made a comeback a decade later for several short stints, popping up again in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One.
