Coronation Street could be welcoming back a soap legend in a major Kevin Webster twist
Coronation Street fans are predicting the return of a soap legend to become Kevin Webster’s new girlfriend, following his split from Abi.
It’s fair to say cobbles favourite Kevin (Michael Le Vell) has had a difficult time on the soap recently. This year, his life was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.
His loved ones soon rallied around, including wife Abi (Sally Carman) and sister Debbie (Sue Devaney) who was also recently diagnosed with vascular dementia.
What’s more, Kevin and Debbie’s brother Carl (Jonathan Howard) made his debut too, after living in Germany for several years.
However, it didn’t take long for Carl to cause some drama as Kevin’s wife Abi (Sally Carman) ended up falling for Carl, despite fighting her feelings for her brother-in-law.
The pair eventually gave in to temptation and have secretly been seeing each other, spurred on by Abi finding out Kevin lied about still having cancer.
But what Abi doesn’t know, is that Carl has also been sleeping with James Bailey (Jason Callender) and is not as committed as she hopes.
In Wednesday’s episode (September 24) Abi decided to call it quits with Kevin, as she knew she wanted to be with Carl. Kevin was devastated by the news and claimed Carl and Abi were having an affair.
Although he was right, both Carl and Abi denied it when Kevin confronted them. Later on the pair realised they should still keep their romance under wraps.
And now, following Kevin and Abi’s split, fans have ‘worked out’ who Kevin could strike up a romance with next on the cobbles. On a Corrie Facebook fan page, one person said: “Poor Kev, let’s hope Carl bins Abi off and she comes crawling back to Kevin.”
Someone else then suggested Natalie Barnes (Denise Welch) as a potential love interest. They wrote: “They need to get Denise Welch’s character back to get back with Kevin!” A third chimed in: “Natalie Barnes? She was ace.” Another also penned: “That would be a good idea.”
Natalie made her debut on the long-running soap back in 1997. As the Rovers Return lady, Natalie was involved in several big storylines and scandals, including her affair with Kevin Webster.
What’s more, the character’s wedding to Des (Philip Middlemiss) in 1998 got a whopping 20 million viewers. But in 2000, Natalie said her goodbyes and left the cobbles.
