The Motability Scheme allows people claiming certain disability benefits to use parts of their award to lease a new car, wheelchair-accessible vehicle, or scooter

Drivers with disabilities or health conditions are bracing for a significant shift in just a few days. The Motability Scheme, overseen by Motability Operations, enables individuals receiving certain disability benefits to use their award to lease a new car, wheelchair-accessible vehicle, or scooter.

However, due to the ever-evolving automotive market, the organisation adjusts the prices of many vehicles on offer each quarter. The next price list update is scheduled for Wednesday, 1 October, and it could see the cost of some vehicles rise due to supply chain disruptions and fluctuating insurance costs.

According to the scheme, it collaborates closely with vehicle manufacturers to determine which vehicles are included and at what price point.

What factors will influence the new prices?

The Motability Scheme website states that it modifies prices based on several factors:, reports Plymouth Live.

Who can participate in the Motability Scheme?

At present, the scheme is available to those receiving Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP), and War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS).

Top vehicles currently on the Motability Scheme.

During the last price update in July, the Motability Scheme website showcased its top picks of vehicles available both with and without an Advance Payment. It features a variety of vehicles, including electric vehicles (EVs), petrol, and diesel.

However, bear in mind that the top choices are likely to shift significantly once prices update, and you may secure a better deal on the vehicle you desire then.
