Strictly Come Dancing star Thomas Skinner has reportedly been given a bodyguard after receiving a series of death threats, with the ex-Royal Marine seen on set

Strictly Come Dancing’s Thomas Skinner has brought in Tom Holland’s ex-bodyguard after reportedly receiving a string of death threats.

Former Royal Marine Daniel Gilbert was seen protecting the ex-Apprentice contestant at Surrey’s Kempton Park Racecourse on Thursday, whilst he shot segments for the forthcoming Saturday programme.

Daniel kept a watchful eye over Thomas and his dancing partner Amy Dowden as they recorded footage at a market stall. The security expert has previously safeguarded various A-list stars, including Spider-Man’s Tom Holland at a pro-am golf event in Wentworth, Surrey last year.

He also provided protection for Maya Jama during Love Island All Stars in South Africa, reports the Express.

A source revealed: “He’s one of the best in the industry. He’s trained to the best standard and nothing gets past him. Thomas is in safe hands.”

This comes after reports emerged that Strictly bosses are becoming increasingly worried about the Essex businessman following numerous threats against him.

The father of three became a target after posting a photograph on social media alongside US Vice President JD Vance. The political figure invited him to a barbecue in the Cotswolds during his UK visit last month.

Thomas disclosed: “I’ve had loads of death threats. People say I am a political figure that I’m actually not. The Left seems to be attacking me every day on social media. The Right seem to see me as a figurehead. It’s been a bit much for me.”

The BBC has reportedly boosted security arrangements this year to safeguard all Strictly Come Dancing participants and professional dancers.

The broadcaster has ditched Olympus Security (UK), which previously handled protection at Elstree Studios where Strictly is recorded, in favour of SRM Security, a company that specialises in entertainment industry security.

A source told The Sun: “Bosses take show security very seriously and have a new, top-notch company on set. They’re sending close protection officers with all the contestants when they are filming on location.

“The production team wants all the talent to feel at ease and happy so they can focus on dancing and enjoying their time on the show. Thomas especially has attracted a lot of attention and has been open about receiving death threats.”

A BBC spokesperson told the publication: “While we wouldn’t comment on specific security matters, there have been no changes to existing protocols based on a specific cast member.”
