Claudia Winkleman is hosting the celebrity version of BBC smash hit The Traitors, and she admitted she was ‘in awe’ being in Scotland filming with the famous faces

Claudia Winkleman has admitted Celebrity Traitors bosses tell her off behind the scenes. The beloved BBC star is hosting the celebrity version of the smash hit game show, with big names such as Stephen Fry, Tom Daley and Paloma Faith battling it out in the Scottish castle.

Fans will have to wait to find out who will be a Faithful and who will be a Traitor, but one thing for sure is that the celebrities will have to take part in some gruelling challenges along the way.

And Claudia has confessed she tries to help them out as much as she can, much to the horror of bosses.

She said: “I am desperate to help them all the time.

“Sometimes I try and drop big clues, but my producer tells me off.”

She admitted she’s also “always tempted” to take something away from the castle as a keepsake, but “knows better”, admitting: “They’d search my bags!”

Claudia said it was “an absolute honour” to have a bunch of celebrities keen to take part for a star-studded run of the show.

She said: “I could barely breathe when I saw them all in the Highlands.

“I’m such a fan of every single one of them.

“The whole team were just in awe, it was hard not to scream ‘You’re here!'”

She went on: “When I talked to Stephen Fry I almost welled up, I told him, ‘This was my dream.’

“We’re incredibly lucky to have the cast that we have. Each one of them is tremendous.”

Claudia said it was “scarier” filming the celebrity version compared to the civilian series, as she just wanted to make the contestants like her, though she has to be “extremely unlikable”.

She said: “The biggest challenge was being ‘strict’.

“All I wanted to do was chat and be friendly but my role is aloof and grumpy.

“I found it hard not to just sit down with them and have a cup of tea.

“My family and I are obsessed with Joe Wilkinson, I had to stop myself getting his autograph for my son.”

The Celebrity Traitors launches on Wednesday 8th October 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer. There will be two episodes per week on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
