Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have recently announced they are going their separate ways and a resurfaced clip shows the country singer giving details of their marriage problems

Keith Urban made a vulnerable marriage confession before splitting with Nicole Kidman.

A clip of Keith opening up about his battle with addiction and the rocky start to his marriage with Nicole has emerged again after news broke of the pair’s split.

Reports have surfaced that the Academy Award-winning star, 58, and the country music performer, 57, have called time on their 19-year relationship. The duo, who are parents to daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, are said to have been spending more time apart due to demanding filming commitments and tour obligations.

The confession clip was originally filmed at the AFI Life Achievement Award Gala Tribute back in June 2024 and Urban honoured Kidman while sharing how his substance abuse issues almost wrecked their marriage.

“We got married in 2006, and barely four months into our marriage, the addictions that I had done really nothing about blew our marriage to smithereens. Four months into a marriage, and I’m in rehab for three months with no idea what was going to happen to us.”

Urban praised Kidman for standing by him during those dark times: “Nic pushed through every negative voice. I’m sure even some of her own, and she chose love. And here we are tonight 18 years later. Her capacity to love is like no one I’ve ever met,” reports the Mirror.

Kidman appeared deeply touched by the heartfelt words as she dabbed at her eyes. The singer has openly discussed his lengthy struggle with substance abuse and alcohol dependency.

Back in 2016, he revealed to Rolling Stone: “I was very, very blessed to have Nic call an intervention on me. My reckless behaviour caused the implosion of my fresh marriage.”

He described the life-changing intervention, which featured Oprah Winfrey, as utterly transformative. At the time, he reflected: “The love in that room in that moment was just right. To see love in action in that way… I’d never experienced anything like that before.”
