Silver fox George Clooney has revealed he’s going to start ‘winding down’ his acting career as he wants to spend more time with his family, having sacrificed that in the past

Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney is set to disappoint fans – by leaving his acting life behind.

The legendary actor says that he is starting “to wind down” his acting career as he prefers time with his children to shooting blockbusters. Clooney, married to top English civil rights and international law attorney Amal, admits that getting older has made him value family time more than ever and said that now is the time in his life that he wants to get his priorities straight.

The 64-year-old said chasing big projects is no longer a priority: “I am not in that mass rush to succeed anymore. I have had my career in many ways and you know things were winding down in a way, so I get to be home with my kids a lot and it’s fun.”

“That is going away quickly. But I can still do it right now. So I am having a really fun time.”

Clooney, speaking to US TV at the New York Film Festival premiere of his latest release Jay Kelly, reflected on how the last decade saw him sacrifice time with the twins to work in Hollywood and he admitted he just does not want to do that anymore.

He said: “You probably have these same conversations and almost every industry has these conversations which is: ‘I wish I hadn’t missed this thing that my kids were doing when I was working.

“It is coming to terms with the sacrifice to make to succeed in any business.”

He made his comments to Fox as he attended the bash with Amal. The pair recently celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary.

Last month, the actor had to pull out of press conferences and photo opportunities at the Venice Film Festival owing to “a bad sinus infection”. The 64-year-old was said to be “so devastated” he couldn’t make it to the press conference for the coming-of-age drama.

His fellow actors, including Adam Sandler, Laura Dern and Billy Crudup, were present at the Venice event, as well as the cast meal that followed. Clooney did, however, manage to attend the world premiere of his new film Jay Kelly, and was photographed on the red carpet alongside wife Amal.

Film director Noah Baumbach said: “Even movie stars get sick”. The press conference host informed reporters: “George Clooney is not going to be here because he has a bad sinus infection and I think he should be on the red carpet tonight and he’s very sorry he can’t be with us.”

Jay Kelly will hit UK cinemas on November 14 and will premiere on Netflix on December 5.
