Liverpool’s problems from the weekend against Crystal Palace continued into the week as they feel behind early against Galatasaray in the Champions League

Premier League icon Pat Nevin questioned Arne Slot’s approach during the opening exchanges of their Champions League clash with Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Liverpool were looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season – where all the questions that had been hovering over the head of Slot’s last-minute Reds were exposed.

However, they soon found themselves behind again as Victor Osimhen sent the Turkish side ahead from the spot. And Liverpool showed no signs of battling back into the contest as they looked sloppy in the middle of the park.

And speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Nevin said: “We are getting close to half time – how many changes does Arne Slot make? Does he really want to go for this or does he trust his team?”

Fans on social media agreed with Nevin, questioning Slot’s approach to the first half.

“Slot has fully lost the plot,” one fan said. While a second posted: “Slot has serious questions to be answered if these performances keep up!”

“I know everyone says shut up it’s reactionary but Slot is losing this dressing room and will continue to do so,” a third sighed. As a fourth shared: “Slot just spent money unnecessarily to assemble a shapeless squad. He is shaping up to be a useless manager!”

And another added: “I see Slot’s changes have accomplished nothing so far… This man really needs to step up and get the most out of this outstanding squad…”

Speaking about the first-half, Andros Townsend added: “Liverpool have had moments when they have broken through the press.

“But they haven’t been clinical when they have got into positions and Galatasaray have on the other end.

“That is the story of the first half.”
