Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden appeared on Thursday’s episode of It Takes Two

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has shared a health update just days before this weekend’s live show.

The popular BBC dance show made its return last weekend with the first live show, as presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman introduced the fresh line-up to the legendary ballroom.

Now, fifteen famous faces are gearing up to showcase their second performance of the series, before the first elimination takes place.

Amy and her celebrity partner Thomas Skinner made an appearance on Strictly spin-off programme, It Takes Two, on Thursday (October 2), where they chatted with presenter Janette Manrara about their forthcoming dance.

At the beginning of their interview, Janette disclosed that Amy was feeling “under the weather” so she wouldn’t make her speak “too much”, reports Wales Online.

She added: “Excuse Amy today. But [Thomas] made you a beautiful drink to help you. Has it helped?”

Amy, who was suffering from a sore throat, responded: “Yes it did. [It had] tumeric, ginger, pepper this morning.”

During Saturday (September 27) evening’s show, Thomas and Amy performed a Paso Doble to Battle Without Honor or Humanity by Hotei. The duo accumulated 12 points in total, with Craig Revel Horwood giving them just two points.

Looking back on their performance, Amy remarked: “I was so proud. You know what it’s like when you have someone who’s a complete beginner. It’s so rewarding then to see them transform and to have the confidence that Tom had.

“At the start, you couldn’t hear the music, the beat, could you? Walking, you were learning to walk again, his posture position – you name it. But you did such a great job… I was so proud, but we worked hard and we’ve had so much fun as well.”

This weekend, the duo will be performing the series’ first Salsa to Bonkers by Dizzee Rascal and Armand van Helden. Amy hinted at a “very risky” performance that was packed with lifts, a dramatic departure from her typical choreographic style.

“There are some very risky moves in this routine. I really, really [trust him], Janette. I think you’re gonna be shocked. I think, Janette, you’re gonna go, ‘Golly gosh, I’ve never seen Amy risk someone like that on Strictly Come Dancing,'” she revealed.

“When I was a pro, I loved doing the lifts. I was always the fearless one that did everything,” Janette remarked, before Amy confessed: “And I was the opposite. I’m turning into a little bit of a you this weekend.”

She concluded: “I’ve never been so high in the air, but also, my head has never been so close to the floor in one routine.”
