Sia’s estranged husband demands £190k-a-month in support after two years of marriage

Sia’s estranged husband Dan Bernard is seeking more than $250,000 per month in spousal support from the singer after she filed for divorce in March after two years of marriage

Sia’s estranged husband is reportedly demanding a whopping $250,000 per month in spousal support.

The 49-year-old singer cited “irreconcilable differences” when she filed for divorce from Dan Bernard in March after two years of marriage. Now, he’s asking for a monthly sum of $250,856, plus coverage for his legal costs.

Court documents obtained by US Weekly reveal that Dan is seeking at least $300,000 from Sia to cover his attorneys’ fees and an additional $200,000 for a forensic accounting investigation.

In a written statement submitted to the court, he said: “I have no income, no real property, no retirement and very little funds in my bank account. I cannot maintain this litigation without a significant contribution by Sia toward my attorneys’ fees and forensic accounting fees. Sia has the greater ability to pay for both of our legal fees. I therefore ask the Court to level the playing field and order Sia to contribute no less than $300,000 toward my attorney’s fees and costs and $200,000 toward my forensic accounting fees and costs.”

Dan alleges that he’s been jobless since April 1, following a letter from Sia’s company informing him of the termination of her funding for their joint venture, Modern Medicine.

He further stated that he’s been surviving on “monthly payments from Sia by way of stipulated orders” until those ceased on October 1.

The pair share an 18-month-old baby named Somersault Wonder, while Sia is also a mum to two sons she adopted as teens.

In March, she sought legal and physical custody of their child and petitioned the court to end the spousal support provision for her soon-to-be ex-husband.

Sia was earlier wedded to documentary filmmaker Erik Anders Lang from 2014 to 2016.

Reflecting on their separation, she opened up to Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe, saying: “That was such a dark time that I was in bed for three years, really, really severely depressed. And so, I couldn’t really do anything for that period of time.”
