‘She won it last year – and should do it again’ – Jason Heavey’s racing tips

SOPHIA’S STARLIGHT (3.33, nap) can storm back to form at Pontefract on Monday.

She bids to win the British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies Handicap for the second year on the spin.

And the assessor has given her an outstanding chance of notching the double at ‘Ponte Carlo’ as she is 3lb lower in the weights this time.

Trained by Grant Tuer, the mare has had a quiet campaign in 2025 but offered plenty of encouragement on her last two runs in September, mainly when sixth in a Listed race at Ayr.

The forecast rain will further help her cause.

DIVINE COMEDY (4.03, trb) ran a terrific race in the Cesarewitch when staying on strongly to be fourth. She will be a tough cookie to beat in the Phil Bull Trophy over 2m2f.

ATTENTION SEEKER (2.33) ran really well on his only start on soft ground and will relish any rain that falls at the “M62 track”.

NARDARAN (4.10) looked aw and unexperienced last season for Paul Nicholls but still hinted at a lot of potential, including when winning at Taunton.

He could have been let in lightly off a rating of 115 at Plumpton and if fit enough he will be very hard to beat.

BERTIE WOOSTER (2.40) is the only horse in the 2m3f chase who would relish a lot of rain, while a similar thing applies to SUPERSTYLIN (3.10).

The ground could become pretty testing at Bath, which will suit YOU ARE EVERYTHING (5.00).

She won on the soft at Chepstow before following up at Leicester and then running respectably at Brighton.

REJJIEN (2.25) and SHETALKSTO ANGELS (2.55) should also be okay on the surface and can give Rossa Ryan a double, while JEDHI KNIGHT (1.55) is also fancied to score for Jedd O’Keeffe.
