Five new families were introduced as the new series kicked off
Gogglebox fans were quick to complain after watching the opening instalment of the beloved Channel 4 programme’s latest series.
The 26th series launched on Friday (September 5) after bosses revealed that five fresh households had been recruited to the roster.
The newcomers include pals Jake and Calum hailing from Glasgow, the Gordon clan from Surrey, wedded pair Andrew and Alfie based in the Cotswolds, mother and daughter-in-law duo Sara and Lara from Yorkshire, plus siblings Rosie and Susie from Edinburgh.
They’ll be appearing alongside established Gogglebox stalwarts Jenny and Lee, the Siddiquis, the Malones, Giles and Mary, Ellie and Izzi, David and Shirley, the Plummers, Amira and Amani, the Worthingtons, Pete and Sophie, Abbie and Georgia, Sue and Steve, Simon and Jane, Ronnie and Annie, Danielle and Daniella, Teresa and Anita and Michael, Sally, Jake and Harry.

Throughout the fresh episode, the personalities delivered their takes on television’s finest offerings, featuring: The Great British Bake Off, Coronation Street, Educating Yorkshire, The Inheritance, Stranded on Honeymoon Island, The Guest and The Dog House, reports the Mirror.
Yet audiences found themselves preoccupied by the latest recruits, with numerous devotees voicing their hesitation about welcoming the unfamiliar faces.
“I haven’t seen any of the new people yet, but they can all go away please,” declared one viewer straight away. Another spectator confessed: “I already dislike the new people.”
A third chimed in: “Oh, I can’t be doing with new people. They always ruin it.”
One viewer, anticipating the backlash to come, sarcastically remarked: “I’m sure everyone will be nice and polite about the new families….” while another chimed in with: “Some new people? Oh great, that always goes well!”
Another fan urged patience, saying: “Just remember everyone was a ‘new family’ once give them all time before judging the OG’s are the best but some of these may join them someday.”
Sadly, Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle from Glasgow won’t be returning for this season. They announced: “After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa Channel 4 have decided it’s time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for season 26.
“Therefore we are leaving the Gogglebox family. Time to watch TV in silence for a bit and put down the popcorn.”
Gogglebox has been nominated for an award at the National Television Awards 2025, set to take place next week. It’s up against Clarkson’s Farm, Stacey and Joe, The Martin Lewis Money Show Live and Stacey Solomon’s Sort Your Life Out for the Factual Entertainment award on Wednesday, September 10.
