After five annual events, the Academy Museum Gala has become renowned for drawing a seriously starry crowd. And this year’s event had a red carpet to rival the Oscars, graced by everyone from Charli xcx to Hailee Bieber and Ayo Edebiri — with the fashion credentials to match.

Held in LA, the event also raises funds for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and its exhibitions and programming. There’s also awards up for grabs, and for 2025, Penélope Cruz scored the Icon Award, while Bruce Springsteen received the Legacy Award.

Wedding-worthy gowns were a major trend, as Kirsten Dunst wore a sheer lace confection with applique flowers, and Kaia Gerber chose a bright white lace column dress from Givenchy by Sarah Burton.

Going gothic was Charli xcx in Saint Laurent. Her leather and lace puffball dress was one of the night’s biggest statements, while Lupita Nyong’o also checked the lace trend in sheer Chanel, as did Greta Lee wearing a plunging Dior gown with a delicate lace top.

Statement bodices were also a big trend from the night, with Rebecca Hall donning a Thom Browne trompe l’oeil gown featuring a nude monochrome motif, while Hailey Bieber wore a Schiaparelli gown with a contrast corseted waist. And Jenna Ortega wore a Grace Ling gown with a sculptural silver bodice.
