Strictly Come Dancing stars are reportedly unhappy that Amber Davies has joined the line-up, as they feel she has an unfair advantage due to her performing arts background

Some contestants on Strictly Come Dancing are reportedly miffed about Amber Davies joining the line-up. The 28-year-old star, who is replacing Dani Dyer on the BBC show, has ruffled some feathers due to her performing arts background during her younger years, and some celebrities feel that she and Lewis Cope shouldn’t be allowed to compete.

A telly insider told The Sun: “The celebs are trying to be good sports about everything and don’t want to let on to show bosses they’re unhappy.

“But behind the scenes, all the chatter is they think it’s unfair that the line-up now includes two sensational dancers who have substantial experience on stage. Having one celeb with that kind of background is one thing but having two is seen as unfair, particularly if they both ended up in the final.”

Amber was brought into the show after Dani suffered an injury that put an end to her series.

In a statement, Amber said: “This has been the craziest 24 hours of my life. I’ve watched Strictly with my family since I was younger and to now be part of the show is a dream come true.

“I’m going to give it my all and I am sending Dani well wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope I do her proud.”

Dani had to bow out of Strictly after breaking her ankle. The 29-year-old TV star had an unfortunate landing during a recent training session, which resulted in a confirmed break in her ankle.

Dani, who was teamed up with Nikita Kuzmin on the BBC programme, revealed: “I had a fall on Friday in rehearsals and landed funny.

“I thought I had rolled my foot but it swelled up badly over the weekend and after an MRI scan yesterday, it turns out I have fractured my ankle.

“Apparently doing the quickstep on a fracture is not advisable and the doctors have said I am not allowed to dance so l’ve had to pull out of the show.”
