Strictly Come Dancing’s stars have allegedly been handed “strict rules” for the upcoming series.

A host of new celebs are slipping into the sequins for the upcoming series of the BBC ballroom show, which starts next week with a launch programme that will reveal which star gets which pro. And it seems there will be some guidelines to follow, reports the Mirror.

The series has made headlines in the past due to scandals, such as dancers Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima’s departures following accusations of misconduct.

However, it seems Strictly bosses have established some rules for pros.

The Daily Mail reported that dancers will be required to follow rules which include “no swearing, excessive drinking or inappropriate attire” to ensure everything runs smoothly. It is also believed that dancers will face stricter regulations regarding their use of social media.

A source reportedly told The Sun: “This includes no swearing, no ‘adult content/humour’, and the instruction to ‘avoid inappropriate language on clothing’. They are reminded their role must be family-friendly, and not sexually explicit or too innuendo-heavy, basically.”

The insider also said that they have been told “to avoid any content of alcohol being consumed ‘irresponsibly’.”

One of Strictly’s latest issues involved Wynne Evans.

The singer left his BBC Radio show following controversies during his stint on the ballroom show last year and its subsequent live tour.

He was paired with professional dancer Katya Jones on the show and the pair ended up apologising during the series for what he described as them “messing around,” over a scene of Katya apparently brushing his hand off her waist.

While he was on the tour, it was reported that Wynne had apologised for using “inappropriate and unacceptable” language.

The BBC has been contacted for a response.

Strictly Come Dancing 2025 kicks off on BBC One on Saturday, September 20.
