Mohammed Umar Khan, 15, was today named as the killer of Harvey Willgoose, who was stabbed to death at All Saints Catholic High School in Sheffield on February 3
Chilling footage has emerged of the 15-year-old killer Mohammed Umar Khan, the teenager who brutally stabbed student Harvey Willgoose to death.
Mohammed Umar Khan, 15, was named earlier today for the first time after he murdered fellow pupil Harvey at All Saints Catholic High School in Sheffield on February 3. Now chilling footage has emerged of the killer dancing around with the blade in the school cafeteria moments before committing the sick crime.
Khan inflicted a fatal stab to Harvey’s heart during a nine-second confrontation in front of horrified pupils at the Sheffield school earlier this year. The two boys had recently fallen out on social media.
Khan’s identity had been previously restricted because he was under the age of 18, but a judge lifted the restrictions earlier today at Sheffield Crown Court before the sentencing. Khan was sentenced to life imprisonment
Mrs Justice Ellenbogen told Khan during sentencing that his actions had “blighted” the lives of students and teachers at the school, adding: “From the evidence given at trial, it is clear that Harvey was also a popular pupil whom students and teachers held in affection.
“Their lives too have been blighted by your actions, which have affected them deeply, and will continue to do so.” She continued: “I’m also sure that you didn’t act to any extent in self-defence or fear of violence.”
Further footage showed teachers pleading with Khan to drop the weapon after the attack on Harvey’s life. Shocked classmates meanwhile barricaded themselves away from the scene.
The victim was in the playground at lunchtime when he was fatally attacked at 12:15pm by a 13cm hunting blade that sliced through five ribs and pierced his heart.
In disturbing footage released by police, both lads are captured arriving at the school on the morning of the killing. The pair, who had clashed on social media, are then filmed alone together in the school hallway.
The defendant, identified by a green dot above his head, started to shove Harvey, who kept his hands behind his back. Earlier that day, the defendant had sent Harvey a private message on Snapchat warning: “If u wan beef we can hav it”.
Moments after the fatal attack, the assailant was seen “dancing” and “bouncing on his toes” in the school canteen. A teacher is seen entering the scene with her arms raised, attempting to pacify the defendant.
Following the dreadful incident, the killer admitted to his teachers: “I’m not right in the head. My mum doesn’t look after me right. I’ve stabbed him.”
The teenagers had taken different sides in a dispute between two other students, which resulted in the school being locked down on 29 January due to reports of a weapon on site. Harvey, absent from school that day, texted his father: “This is why I don’t go to school dad, people have knives.”
