Coronation Street’s Bethany has returned to the soap but a romance could already be brewing for the character, according to fans
Coronation Street fans have predicted a shock new romance between Bethany Platt and a fellow cobbles resident after she made her comeback to the soap.
Bethany (Lucy Fallon) was last seen in February, when she left Weatherfield after breaking up with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) when she found out he had cheated on her with Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan).
Fans will recall that Bethany and Daniel had an on-and-off relationship for years, and the pair were due to get married. However, Daniel ended up sleeping with his ex Daisy.
As a result, a heartbroken Bethany decided to accept a job working at a magazine in London and moved there. In real life, actress Lucy exited the soap for her maternity leave.
Lucy gave birth to her daughter, Nancy Margaret in January 2025. She shares the tot with footballer boyfriend Ryan Ledson, and they are also parents to Sonny Jude, born in 2023.
Months after welcoming her second child, it was announced that Lucy was back at work on the ITV soap as Bethany. And in Friday’s episode (October 3), she made her return in which she ended up getting questioned by police for apparently stealing a vehicle.
While talking to copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) – who is her mum Sarah’s (Tina O’Brien) new boyfriend – Bethany revealed she had quit her job in London and borrowed the car from her boss without their permission.
Kit managed to pull a few strings to get Bethany off the hook – much to her delight. And later on, Bethany reunited with mum Sarah who was over the moon to hear Bethany was back in Weatherfield for good.
But with Bethany broke and unemployed, Sarah reassured her that she could move in with her. But now, with more drama no doubt to come, viewers have predicted a shock new romance between Bethany and Kit.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person said: “Kit and Bethany are def going to be a thing.” Another added: “How long until Bethany and Kit sleep together then?”
A third chimed in: “I said the same.” Echoing their thoughts, someone else declared: “Knowing Kit, he’ll bed Bethany while still bedding her mother!”
Last month, Lucy opened up about her return to the soap and revealed she was “really excited”. She told Digital Spy: “It’s good to be back with everybody – not hiding a baby bump anymore!” she said. “It’s nice to just be free! It’s exciting, I’m looking forward to everyone seeing it.”
