Coronation Street fans are in for a shock as the soap has issued a major update on a soap legend

Coronation Street has shared a shock update on a cobbles legend and fans will be heartbroken.

Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) made his first appearance on the ITV soap back in 2006, played by Ben Thompson. As the son of Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh), it didn’t take Ryan long to find himself involved in some drama.

From steroid abuse to online sex work, Ryan’s time in Weatherfield has not been short of drama. His love life too, has often been the talk among the residents.

Ryan’s had his fair share of cobbles romances including Katy Armstrong (Georgia May Foote) and Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) and an affair with Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan).

What’s more, in 2023, he was the unintentional victim of a vile acid attack when Justin Rutherford (Andrew Still) attempted to chuck acid at Daisy, only for Ryan to jump in front of her. As a result, he suffered life-changing injuries.

However, over on the soap recently, Ryan and his aunt Carla (Alison King) took a break from the street to visit his mum in Ireland for a family funeral.

And in Thursday’s episode (October 30) Carla was back in Weatherfield – but without Ryan. According to Carla, and in what will be a sad blow to fans, Ryan was stopping in Ireland for a little while longer.

Meanwhile earlier this year actor Ryan headed to Vancouver with his Corrie co-star Mikey North, who is famed for playing Weatherfield’s Gary Windass.

Some of those who follow the long-running show may not know that Corrie is popular in the North American country, and cast members sometimes host meet and greets after the Canadian fans travel to the UK in a pilgrimage to the set at MediaCityUK in Trafford.

The latest to head off to the other side of the pond were Ryan and Mikey, and the former took to social media to give a glimpse at the trip, which did manage to include some sightseeing for the pair.

Alongside the post on Instagram, Ryan shared: “Vancouver, thank you very much for having us. We loved every minute. #vancouver.” Corrie co-star Claire Sweeney was quick to respond, writing: “Fabulous,” before fans were also keen to respond.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
