A former Coronation Street legend could be returning to the ITV soap as Carla Connor’s new love interest.

Carla (Alison King) and Lisa (Vicky Myers) first struck up a romance last year – much to the delight of viewers. However, it’s fair to say they haven’t exactly had it easy.

At the start of the year, Carla’s killer brother Rob Donovan (Marc Bayliss) broke out of prison and ended up taking Carla and Lisa hostage.

The ordeal resulted in Lisa’s daughter Besty (Sydney Martin) getting shot. Fortunately, Betsy managed to make a recovery and Rob was sent back to prison.

More drama followed though, when copper Lisa found herself taken off duty as she was struggling following the death of fellow police officer Craig Tinker (Colson Smith). As well as that, Lisa is also trying to find out the truth behind her late wife Becky’s (Amy Cudden) murder.

Nonetheless, amid all the drama, recently, Carla and Lisa have continued to focus on their relationship, going from strength to strength. And this month, the pair got engaged.

However, this week Lisa was left stunned when Becky showed up, with it being revealed that isn’t actually dead. And in Friday’s episode (September 12), Becky explained that she went into witness protection after an undercover operation went wrong.

Carla soon arrived and was just as floored when she was introduced to Becky. Later on, Carla left Lisa at the factory with Lisa to talk things over but it was clear Carla was overwhelmed with her fiance’s returning from the dead.

But now, fans have predicted that Lisa and Carla are going to end up calling it quits. What’s more, they also have ‘worked out’ her new love interest. On a Corrie Facebook fan page, one person wrote: “Carla and Lisa are going to split aren’t they?”

Someone else agreed: “Probably.” A third chimed in and predicted Carla’s former flame Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) could return. They wrote: “They need to bring back Peter for Carla!” Another penned: “Yes get him back!” A fifth fan also declared: “I’ve always loved them together.”

Carla and Peter had quite the rocky relationship on the soap over the years, with infidelity, deceit, addiction and tragedy rocking their romance. Peter was last seen on Boxing Day 2023 in which he left the cobbles for a new life abroad, following his split from Carla.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
