Those thinking of applying for Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) benefits have been given a clear and easy to follow guide on how to figure out what they are entitled to
A guide on how to ‘hack’ the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and find out exactly what benefits you are entitled to has been shared with the Daily Star. Figuring out if you should apply for Universal Credit (UC), Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and/or Housing Benefit can be a nightmare due to complex qualifying criteria.
To make things easier, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) expert has exclusively told Daily Star readers via Newspage how to use ChatGPT to cut through he jargon. Mitali Deypurkaystha, founder of Impact Icon AI, gave the exact prompt you can copy and paste into the chat bot’s feed.
After you have fed the entire prompt of text to the chat bot, answer the questions that appear one by one and the AI will tell you what benefits you are entitled to. Mitali’s prompt reads: “Act as a careful UK benefits guide.
“Ask me questions one at a time to work out which benefits I may get, likely amounts, and how to apply. UK only, account for England/Scotland/Wales/NI differences. Don’t guess.
“After questions, give: 1) quick summary, 2) eligibility shortlist with likely/possible/unlikely and rough amounts, 3) next steps with official links or phone numbers, 4) evidence checklist, 5) risk flags and referrals.
“Always include citations to official pages, prioritizing .gov URLs. Start with my age and UK residency. Remember to ask me questions one by one.”
Meanwhile, the DWP has announced that eligibility for the mobility component of PIP will undergo scrutiny alongside the daily living element, forming part of the UK Government’s welfare overhaul. Social Security and Disability Minister Sir Stephen Timms will collaborate with disabled groups and charities on the review, which is anticipated to conclude by autumn next year.
Recipients of the enhanced rate PIP mobility component can redirect some or all of their payment towards leasing a new vehicle, wheelchair-accessible car, scooter or powered wheelchair via the Motability Scheme, reports the Daily Record.
During DWP oral questions in Parliament on Monday, Conservative MP Danny Kruger ‘implored’ the UK Government to “consider the benefits to which PIP is a gateway, such as Motability, disability premiums, Council Tax discounts and Blue Badges” and pressed Sir Stephen to “promise at least that those entitlements could come down”.
