Emmerdale’s John Sugden is set to take things to the extreme as he throws himself off a cliff with Aaron Dingle in upcoming episodes
John Sugden reaches breaking point as he plunges off a cliff with Aaron Dingle in dramatic scenes set to unfold on Emmerdale. Audiences can expect heightened tension as John Sugden’s world crumbles when his web of deception starts unravelling. Oliver Farnworth, who joined the ITV drama last year, has portrayed the former Army medic’s battle with his overwhelming “hero complex”.
Following a pattern of endangering multiple lives only to rescue them afterwards, John found satisfaction in being hailed as a saviour. His relationship with Aaron Dingle seemed blissful – until everything started falling apart.
As fans will remember, John bears responsibility for leaving his former fiancé Aidan Moore in a coma, causing Nate Robinson’s demise, and imprisoning Mackenzie Boyd in an underground hideout.
Whilst John remains holed up in a remote cottage with Aaron, tensions are poised to reach boiling point in forthcoming episodes, especially following his attempt to sedate Aaron due to his envy over Robert Sugden, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Aaron makes another desperate bid for freedom from John’s clutches. Robert eventually reaches the cottage and confronts his half-brother over the murder allegations, but John remains stubbornly defiant.
The heated exchange turns violent, leaving Robert collapsed and motionless on the floor. After confirming Robert is still alive, John feels momentary relief at avoiding another killing, but his composure shatters when he spots Aaron attempting to flee.
Aaron is in a state of panic as he scours the woods for the hatch he knows is linked to Mack’s disappearance. At the same time, John is desperately combing through the forest in search of his missing husband.
As Aaron’s search for Mack seems increasingly futile, he’s stopped by a vast gorge.
Upon turning around, he’s taken aback to find himself face to face with John. As John attempts to concoct a plausible story, Aaron no longer trusts his words.
Suddenly, Aaron realises just how unstable John truly is. He implores John to take him to Mack but just as John is about to call the police and confess, Robert shows up.
Feeling instantly betrayed, he accuses Aaron of setting up the reunion. As tensions rise, John dials the police to frame Robert before leaping into the gorge, pulling Aaron with him.
Robert is left stunned after witnessing John drag Aaron off the cliff. Peering over the edge and seeing both men motionless, Robert calls 999.
His claims that John is the instigator of the recent village terror fall on deaf ears, leaving Robert feeling defeated. Convinced that Robert pushed John and Aaron off the gorge, Chas swears to make him pay.
As the village turns against Robert, Cain informs Victoria that the Dingles want nothing more to do with her family, leaving her in tears as Moira concurs.
What will become of Aaron and John, and will Mackenzie be discovered underground before it’s too late?
