Experts have said the so-called ‘Mounjaro mirror effect’ is seeing more and more Brits falling back in love with their reflections after losing weight through fat jabs

Slimmed-down Brits are “falling back in love with their reflections” in what experts have dubbed “the Mounjaro mirror effect”.

With the nation embracing fat jabs, 83% of folk on the weight-loss injections reported finally feeling happy to look at themselves.

Google searches for full-length mirrors have surged by 399% in the past three months, with over nine in 10 fat jab users going back to clothes shopping.

One in five respondents had previously avoided looking at themselves in mirrors for a year or more, while one in 20 had refused to look at their reflection for more than a decade.

Almost half of the 2,000 Brits surveyed by Chemist4U – some 45% – were now decking out their homes with looking glasses.

And eight in 10 said they were taking more selfies.

Yorkshire is home to the most body-confident fat jab patients – with 97% regularly checking themselves out in mirrors.

It’s closely followed by Northern Ireland, where 91% love marvelling at their new slimmer figures, followed by the South East of England (89%), Scotland (88%) and the East Midlands (87%).

Slimming expert Ayesha Bashir, from Chemist4U, said: “Weight-loss injections like Mounjaro don’t just transform someone’s body, they transform how people feel about themselves.

“For many who once avoided mirrors, shop windows or selfies, the gains in confidence, energy and self-esteem are life-changing.

“People are now proudly embracing their reflection, enjoying shopping, trying on clothes and capturing their image for the first time in years.

“This isn’t just about appearance, it’s a positive shift in how people experience and celebrate themselves daily, which is the biggest gain of all.”

But the study found a quarter of those from the East of England on weight-loss drugs, like Mounjaro and rival brands such as Wegovy, still felt uncomfortable looking at themselves in mirrors.

East Anglia is followed by the North East of England, where 21% spurned their reflections, and the South West of England, where 20% continued to avoid mirrors.
