PepsiCo has seen sales of its snacks and drinks fall as health-aware consumers cut back.

The US giant, which owns Walkers, Doritos and Pipers Crisps in the UK, said the volume of goods sold by its food and drink arms fell 1 per cent in the third quarter.

In North America, volumes at its snack division fell by as much as 4 per cent. But higher prices helped its sales rise 2.7 per cent to £18billion.

PepsiCo has famously used celebrities to grow its market base, first hiring Beyonce in 2002.

Its figures come as food manufacturers grapple with changing habits, including the rollout of ‘fat jabs’ such as Ozempic, which have meant more shoppers eating less.

The company said it was launching products that appeal more to health-focused consumers.
