Aldi has announced that it is set to open 16 new stores between now and December 12
Aldi has revealed plans to open 16 new stores across the UK, from the southernmost tip of England to the northern reaches of Scotland, all before Christmas on December 12. Each store will offer a wide array of budget-friendly items, including food, beverages, toiletries and more.
Recently crowned as the Quality Food Award’s Christmas retailer of the Year 2025, Aldi is set to bring its exclusive Specialbuys to locals in the 16 chosen areas. The UK’s fourth-largest supermarket chain is investing a whopping £650 million across the country through its 2025 store opening and refurbishment programme.
Each new location will generate approximately 40 jobs, with Aldi also announcing a doubling of its investment. The retailer has pledged a staggering £1.6 billion over the next two years, with the aim of opening 40 stores annually.
In anticipation of the festive season rush, Aldi has launched an ambitious recruitment drive, aiming to hire over 4,500 store colleagues nationwide. These new recruits will be instrumental in restocking shelves, assisting customers and ensuring smooth store operations during one of the retail industry’s busiest times.
Additionally, new store colleagues will benefit from Aldi’s reputation as Britain’s top-paying supermarket. Having come into force in September 2025, Store Assistants now earn at leasr £13.02 per hour nationally, and from £14.35 per hour within the M25, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said: “At Aldi, we’re focused on making affordable, high-quality food accessible to as many people as possible – and opening new stores is at the heart of how we do that. Launching 16 new stores in just over five weeks is a significant milestone for our business and a clear demonstration of the pace and ambition behind our growth plans. It means more communities will benefit from Aldi’s value and choice in the weeks ahead and beyond.”
This announcement coincides with Aldi’s launch of their £3.99 Christmas dinner which is ‘perfect for two’ and complete with pigs in blankets. The Inspired Cuisine Festive Munch Box is now available, promising to “satisfy every Christmas craving.”
The box boasts: “Perfect for two and for those wanting a quick meal before the big day, this playful take on a traditional seasonal dinner includes shredded chicken, succulent pigs in blankets, savoury sage and onion stuffing balls, mini hash brown bites and rich festive gravy.”
